Joe, over at The Word Foundry has offered some kind words about my little rant the other day.

His blog is a regular read for me. He's tracking his writing progress in a novel (no pun intended) way: he's updating his word count regularly. Shunning accountability like I do, I cringe at the thought of posting my progress [shudder] on any of the writing projects I've got underway. It would be more depressing than helpful, I think.
